A bit of background…

First introduced in 1962 at the World’s Fair, the Seattle Center Monorail is a local landmark, tourist attraction, and central transportation system. In conjunction with the railway system’s 60th anniversary and a renovated station platform, the Monorail team approached the brand experts at Wildern for a visual revival.

With a retro-futurist aesthetic in mind, we refreshed the logo, revamped the brand identity, and created custom illustrations, animations, wayfinding, ticket kiosk wraps, and extensive guidelines for further brand application and the wayfinding system.

Creating a Buildable Brand

Solution

The key component to our partnership with the Seattle Center Monorail was to create a solid foundation for the future. From the color palette to the typography, to the retro-style icons and wayfinding system, each component of the brand needed to be replicable by their in-house team. With that in mind, we created a strong base brand and wayfinding system and set up clear guidelines on how to execute each component.
