A bit of background…
Chef Makini Howell, owner of Seattle’s plant loving Plum Bistro (and the mind behind several other vegan restaurant concepts), approached us to re-liven her beloved, well-worn food truck and its brand as well. With an entirely vegan, fast food-based menu including savory classics like burgers and Mac ‘n’ cheese, Plum Bistro Food Truck is a hearty, savory, gratifying food experience, beloved by vegans and foodies across the Seattle area for its flavors and diet-friendly options for lunch, and a called-upon favorite for catering events and weddings.
We created a new logo and identity for the food truck, including the truck’s design, its brand voice, social media presence, food packaging, print menus & materials, and wayfinding.

Solution
Plant Loving & Anything But Boring!
Our main goal in approaching this project was to show the Seattle vegan and larger foodie community that plant-based food doesn’t have to be limited to grain bowls and buckets of leaves. With that in mind, I created a funky & fun logo and brand suite with a bold and zestful color palette to reflect the flavors and colors of Plum Bistro’s food, and playful, eye-catching illustrations to show the celebratory, communal experience of gathering to eat. Other touch points include the painted truck design, menu design, wayfinding and food packaging.
Solution
the 2019 Summer of Love BBQ
Every 4th of July, Plum Restaurants invites the neighborhood over for a BBQ and Block Party. Taking inspiration from the truck’s funky re-brand, we created a fun and groovy event campaign across digital and print touchpoints. Touchpoints included print posters, postcards, tent banners and swag bags along with digital advertising and social media announcements.
The event was a major success! Lines went around the block, noise complaints were made, and hundreds gathered together for music, games, and delicious plant-based BBQ.
