A bit of background…

“Gattara” is an Italian word describing an old lady who feeds feral cats, colloquialized as “cat lady”. When Warwick Hotels reached out to us with this as the name and concept for their new Italian restaurant in Denver, we were equal parts slightly confused and excitedly eager to work on it.

We created a brand identity to fit the feline-meets-mid century modern theme — touchpoints included the logo, playfully dynamic cat illustrations, menu design, and one-page website.

Solution

Web-friendly Whimsy

From the playfully eccentric logo, to the cheeky animated cats and carefully crafted cocktail book, Gattara was a highly illustrative brand. As a multi-disciplinary designer, making sure my creative ideas can be translated from print into responsive web, and vice-versa is a huge part of my thought process. For Gattara, that meant turning my raster illustrations into vector, then utilizing Adobe AfterEffects and the BodyMovin plug-in to turn static illustrations into fully responsive, animated SVG.
