A bit of background…

Pike Place Market is a beloved local landmark, tourist attraction, and community hub in Seattle. Thousands come from near and far experience and join in the Market’s unique culture and explore local goods and services. And the holidays are no different. Each year, Pike Place Market’s Preservation and Development Authority (PDA) launches a creative campaign to showcase the Market’s crafts, cuisine, goods, events, and more during the holiday season.

As a part of our ongoing social media, advertising, and design work with Pike Place Market’s PDA, Wildern was tapped for the 2023 Pike Place Market Holiday Campaign. We proposed a uniquely whimsical creative campaign befitting the Market using user-generated content and dynamic illustrations, and carried the campaign identity across print and digital formats for web, social, and more, as well as custom holiday wrapping paper.

Solution

Creating Cohesion through Illustration

One of the biggest obstacles in using user-generated content is creating a sense of cohesion. I came up with the illustration/photography fusion concept to address this hurdle. Through the use of illustration, we were able to showcase all that the Market has to offer and its atmosphere, while featuring members of the community and the Market from their perspectives.
